Where We Do It
North Head (Car-rang-gel) Sanctuary
Manly, NSW 2095
“Manly – 7 Miles from Sydney and 1000 miles from care”
This slogan for Manly from 1940 is still relevant today, and North Head, with its stunning views, unique ecosystem and rich history, is not only a place of serenity, but also a place to learn, discover and be inspired!
North Head Sanctuary is an incredibly special place that is home to a rich diversity of plants and animals, including endangered populations of Long-nosed Bandicoots and Little Penguins. North Head also hosts an endangered ecological community of plants, called Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub (ESBS). There is less than 3% of the original community of ESBS in Sydney and it is one of the most critically endangered communities in all of NSW.
All programs give clients the opportunity to walk through and discover this virtually untouched bushland. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the unique and rich history of the area, including the importance of North Head for Aboriginal people both in the past and the present. The area has been used for a range of diverse purposes, some including military base, quarantine station, and now a sanctuary.

Why We Do It
Do you feel passionate about wanting to make a difference in the lives of kids as well as the world that they live in? We do!
The mission of the company is to provide engaging and inspirational environmental education programs that will promote conservation and preservation of the environment. The aim is to develop the knowledge, values and attitude that will enable clients to contribute towards a sustainable society.
We want to ‘walk the walk’ and ‘talk the talk’ – we love our environment and strive to do all that we can to make sure that it is there for all to enjoy – now and in the future! To be as sustainable as possible, we have a website that is 130% carbon neutral, we minimise paper usage and when needed, use only recycled paper, as well as many other ‘green’ initiatives. If you want to know more, please see our Environmental Policy.
Who We Are
A few years ago I was leading a group of teenagers on a trip to Nepal. The first night, on a 7-day trek in the Annapurna mountains, we had a fantastic campsite with stunning views of the surrounding mountains, and eventually the spectacular star filled sky. One of the girls (this is a teenager, remember!) said in amazement, with tears in her eyes,
“I never knew there were so many stars. I thought it was just in the movies.”
I realised that many children and youth have limited experiences in nature and wanted to create a program that could share the wonder and importance of nature with as many kids as possible.
…and this is how EcoXplore was born.
I have been working with kids and the environment for over 10 years in a variety of exciting roles. I have a Masters Degree in Environmental Education and have experience designing and leading environmental education programs. I feel passionate about sharing the wonder of nature with others, especially kids!
I look forward to working with you and introducing your kids to the joy of the great outdoors!
All of our guides are inspiring individuals, excited about working with kids and nature. All guides have relevant experience and the required qualifications and training, including a working with children check, senior first aid, and the desire to have fun with and motivate the kids!
